1940s in N Lincs/Humberside

Postby Steve of RaT » Sat Oct 11, 2008 11:08 am

The stepson is really keen to do 1940s and the wife quite fancies giving it a go. He is 9 but said he wants to wait until he doesn't have to wear shorts (he will if others are wearing them). Our main period is 18th century and probably would only do the occasional event. I drive, but the wife doesn't so if I can't take them they will have to use public transport or find someone local going (on the isle of axholme :roll: Nahh no chance)

So is there any 1940s group that are based or have regular events in N Lincs/Humberside area

She says she contacted a group a bit back but got a reply that they weren't taking new people.

Hi Steve,
Try looking at the Northern World War 2 Association. They have events and members in that area.

Unfortunately that's no good Matt, as they want civilian and all those listed are military.

Sorry Steve, I just looked and the website is a bit outdated, there are quite a few doing Homefront now for all sides.

Depends what you fancy doing an how accurately you want to do it. Lots of groups are springing up but they seem to be catering for the 'day trippers' and not too bothered about detail.
I'm in Beverley and if you want help or where to find kit I'm happy to help. Drop me a pm.
