WW2 German helmets

Postby MuskitEar » Sat Oct 27, 2007 8:04 pm

Is there a shortage of original helmets??
I have two shells. One looks pretty good. The other some slight pitting but would be good for reenactment. Paint poss not original. NO linings in them.
Got raw edged one with liner with dubious SS insignia.

If your gonna do it. do it right

There are quite a few original WW2 M40 etc's about, but finding a good one, untampered, original paint, liner, rivets and decals is getting harder, and more costly. Some fakes out there are very very good, these guys are masters, they even manage to get the rust coming through in patches, and wear on the liners on a brand new helmet. Best bet for you would be one of the WW2 forums, like WWiireenactment.co.uk

M42's are the most common form of helmet shell as they were the last varient to be produced.
