Writing paper and writing resources.

Postby Beltane_51 » Sun Jan 10, 2016 7:14 pm

I'm trying to find out a bit of background on the types of writing equipment, paper, inks and pencils(? Had the feeling that they started to appear in a crude form around this time) for the period around 1700 to about 1715. Traders info would also be really useful.

Also anything/ any place where I could start researching info re: literacy and education, esp Dame Schools, handwriting styles, fonts etc would be gratefully received!

Many thanks. Humbly yours etc, etc. :D

Griffen Mill make wonderful replica paper for most datelines, bound to be at least one of theirs that fits your dateline. http://www.griffenmillhandmadepaper.com/

Most people make their own oak gall ink, its easy to do and you can't run out that way :)
