Elizabethan 1580 Buff Jerkin
Hi can anybody help me to find an authentic period picture of one of these, either in a painting or museum. I am constructing the body o.k but am strugling with the waist and shoulders. Thanks.

Re: Elizabethan 1580 Buff Jerkin
whereabouts are you rich?
If in London pop along to the MoL, they have one in store. I've measured it but all the notes and pattern and in storage unfortunately. the shoulder construction was like this later one http://thegoodwyfe.blogspot.co.uk/2012_02_01_archive.html
This is also in the MoL but not the one I looked at

and they have this one as well...

the portraits of Raleigh, Drake and Dudley have them, plus this one here.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerkin_%28garment%29#/media/File:Musician_Holding_Bagpipes_1632.jpg its a bit later but the construction on the shoulders looks the same.

http://www.griffinhistorical.com. A delicious decadent historical trifle. Thick performance jelly topped with lashings of imaginative creamy custard. You may also get a soggy event management sponge finger but it won't cost you hundreds and thousands.
