Churches in Paris in 1625

Postby Henri De Ceredigion » Wed Jun 17, 2015 8:49 am

This might seem a strange question but how many churches were there in Paris (in operation) by 1625? The reason I ask is that I am currently writing my sequel to the Musketeer novel I published in 2013 and have got myself involved with a foundling looking for his father who he knows is a campanologist. The initial figure I found via Wikipedia suggests 28 churches in Paris by 1625 (but that only counts ones that still exist today) so I would imagine the actual number is a lot higher.

Will take you a while to find and count them but here are maps for a few years either side.

That is even better than I could have possibly hoped for (especially as I have never been to Paris in 2015!)
