I'm interested in the development of British Army uniforms from the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685 to the War of Spanish Succession. Is there a visual record anywhere, or suggested reading? Particularly interested in the First Foot Guards as the fought at Sedgemoor and Blenheim

Thanks

If I wanted to be pedantic I could point out that the British Army did not exist until 1707.

Have a look at http://www.kipar.org/period-galleries/index.html for some images.

Its a ridiculously sparse area for info. I did a project on 1st FG for 1702 and it had to be mostly guesswork as reliable sources are virtualy non-existant and originals even worse. When asking for refs one acknowledged expert kind of rolled his eyes and said best of luck.

Sorry! Funnily enough the Osprey on that era is ok-ish.
