Where to start

Post by HopefulVillager »

After 20+ years doing dark-age stuff, I've been offered the chance to get involved with an ECW artillery unit.

I have no kit for this period at all, so can anyone share what I need as a minimum starting kit ?

Assuming that I will need to buy just about everything, what damage am I looking at ?

OK....
Shoes...£50 up
Hose....£10 up
Breeches...£35 up
Shirt..£20 up
Coat/doublet..(depends on the group you're looking at)..from £40
headgear...cap/hat ...from £15
Would hope that someone in the group would have loan kit to start you off.........most ECW units do.

Thanks Steve, that's not as bad as I was expecting.

Well, I'm not a 'normal' size. Of course I might be 'normal' for a re-enactor ...

We have a great artillery division and we also have plenty of kit for new members to borrow. Take a look at our website:

Steve those prices are a little low IMHO

For artillery I would suggest Brights but I suspect you have a unit sorted
There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.

Nigel,
You could well be right...As you are well aware,my ECW kit has matured with my body(which is confirmed by my breeches having dodgy knees).
Based the prices on various bits Alice has been looking at over the past couple of years...I'm much more up-to-date with 18thcent prices!
Hope you got home OK & Debs' dancing feet have cooled down........

Our normal spare kit starts at 'fat b*st*rd' and goes on up from there. Depends how abnormal your size IS!
