Knight Hospitaller Medical Instruments 1570-80

I have been commissioned to write and perform a gallery performance for a museum as a Hospitaller in the time of the Order of St John's tenure of Malta - the years to be interpreted are roughly 1570-1580.

The museum has asked if I can source any replica medical instruments that would have been used at this time, so any suggestions regarding suppliers, makers, websites etc please pass on to me, and I will pass them onto the relevant person.

There is a budget for this but that would need to be negotiated between the museum and the supplier, I am simply posting the request here as a member of this august body!

Either post on the board or feel free to PM if preferred.

You might be best joining the 'Chirurgeons' Yahoo discussion group at and asking them the question

The group describes itself as 'History of Medicine Group for Living History and Re-enactment Medical Practitioner' - I have been a member for a few years and these guys know all there is to know about medical re-enactment...

Hope this helps

Thanks Bevis,

I am already a member of that group, as I portray both a Georgian and Victorian Quack Doctor, and I did post on there and passed on their suggestions
