Hello, I am a newby to the forum, I have spent a while scanning threads, and cannot find just what I am looking for and so am seeking help.
My character is a knight c1360, my Armour kit is "up together" and accepted by my group (muchly appreciating the help they provided).
It is time to bring the soft kit "up to scratch"
what I need is pictures / references. I have several ideas, but my ideas may not be authentic.
Steven, is an "older model chap" so as i believe is correct, have cut the tunic to just above knee height, My first thought is to "dag" the hem. I wanted to liven this up with and embroidered edge, but feel this is not in my period. next would be the hood, dressing the "hem" in some way ( tassels / embroidered pattern / fur) and a chain of office.
could anyone help here? am I heading in the right direction or meerly fooling myself.
thank you for any comments

Re: 1360 Knight Apparel, Help / Guidance
Welcome to the forum and all that.
I was thinking, isn't the Luttrell psalter, from around 1330's, perhaps more your golden era, as in, when you were young? So if you take the fashions shown in that, maybe throw in a bit of dagging, if it was around in 1360's, I don't know if it was, and you're good to go.

Here's some posh people being fed by others:

IIRC from the rest, there's a lot of nicely dyed and lined tunics and supertunics. So you want colourful. And hoods still seem to be popular.
I think, from other things I've read, that the dagging obsession is more 1380's or such.

There is a wonderful English two-volume manuscript (Royal 6 E VII) in the British Library, which was produced in London in about 1360 or shortly thereafter. It includes many illustrations of people from all parts of society in everyday clothing, including drunks, peasants, clerics, lawyers and aristocracy.
The link is here (scroll down to the bottom of the page for thumbnails which can be enlarged to huge dimensions by clicking on them and then clicking again on the new image:

The tunics all seem to be the length you mentioned, except for clerics and royalty who wear full-length gowns. It seems that that chains of office/livery collars were mainly slightly later in date. Dagging only appears in a very few cases in the manuscript (such as the image for Fideiussor and Katerina), so it would seem to be fairly unusual at that period. Sumptuous furs, on the other hand, are an obvious indicator of wealth and status.

Thank you for the replies. I shall spend much time musing over these.
Re: 1360 Knight Apparel, Help / Guidance
I get the impression from brother Ranulph's link that the 1360's tunics are shorter and fit better to the body, which is the direction clothing was going in then, for men at least.
