Looking for a medieval re-enactment group in dorset?

Postby Dusk » Mon Aug 06, 2012 1:30 pm

Hi,

I have been searching for a medieval re-enactment group in dorset, but with no luck...
Does any body know of, or is a member of a dorset (and surrounding area) based medieval re-enactment group, that re-enacts battles?
I know there is a long bow group, but i am more interested in sword fighting.

Thanks in advance,

Dusk.

Hi Dusk

The Medieval period is a pretty large period of time

Is there a specific era you are looking at (Early, High or Late)?

I'm not really looking for any specific period within medieval times. I'm just interested in the medieval period in general, so any era with in it is fine by me.

Yeah, i've heard of dorset levy too. But unfortunately i don't know if they are still around...they don't seem to have a website or any means of contact.

I'm with British Plate our retinue has training sessions just over the border in the New Forest, Hampshire, so depending where you are in Dorset it could be worth a visit.

Hi Dusk

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you and do you have access to transport?

Do you have a website?

Are you combatant re-enactment or living history?

Hi Dusk,

We're based in the neighboring counties of Somerset and Wiltshire and do most of shows in Wales but we are definitely medieval (14th Century):

Well Medieval Free Company have the odd member down there although from memory I belive most are in Somerset. Group are more living history than battle reenactment with open tent policy, ie anything modern either stays in your car or is so well hidden its nigh on impossible to find it. Their era is the ubiquitous late Medieval/WOTR.
