Baselard Suspension

Postby MichaelAnderson » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:02 pm

Ive just completed a scabbard for a mid 15th c baselard and am looking for ways of suspending it from my belt

Most period artwork shows a vertical suspension on a thin belt. In the embleton book of days gone by ( parts dated I know but still useful), it seem like a thong is tied around the neck of the scabbard and creates two loops at the back for the belt to pass through. Any thoughts on how this is achieved? Any knot experts? I have mastered the knot suspension for longsword scabbards but creating these loops for the baselard suspension is a whole new kettle of fish :)

Many thanks
