That looks like cast iron. The colouration and surface pitting match what I have seen on iron objects that have been weathered for a long time.
I am not aware of any cast iron gun barrels in the medieval period....

there is a short pestereau in the musee la neuville, switserland, and another two in the historiches, Murton. However there are also several guns about that defied analysis as to whether they were cast or wrought until they were X-rayed so I'm not convinced you can be 100% sure from a photo.

Hmmm, tricky. Are you talking about guns made by casting molten iron into a mould? I really must get a copy of the knight and the blast furnace.
