The trouble with period blacks is that they used iron in order to fix the colour, which means that your gucci black number is self-destructing from oxidisation the word go.

I recall Froissart retelling a Scottish action where the Scots had the worst of it for being camped on exposed ground with poor shelter? Or is that the mead talking?

Wouldn't the generally high casualty rate also affect the ratios? Was it mainly the practice of the archers to try and take out the other's archers or take out their MAAs?

Hmm, may I suggest going to a wargames club and trying out the formation suggestions in miniature to see which ones work? Using something like WAB or Field of Glory where figures are individualised would rationalise the combat resolution and factor in terrain and troop qualities? The theory being th...

So, effectively WOTR fed representation has evolved due to a high number of people wishing to be billmen fielded in comparison to the number of archers therefore it is inaccurate? For example, my understanding of the combat fo the day was that you closed in as quickly as possible in order ot avoid c...

Wanted: user manual for Gamages sewing machine

Unknown vintage, but circa 1960-70. Gamages was an old department store in High Holborn. We've acquired one but no manual, so are a bit confuzzled by some of its features.

Anyone got one?

I was reccomended The Ring Lord for supplies, but was wondering if any UK traders provide links in bulk as shipping from them seems to take about 50% of the order.
