you mention the 'national living history platform', do you have any more info on this. Is is an official body? does it regulate? I'm interested to know. In light of Cal's 'keep on topic' post, you may want to start a new thread (general history? gossip?) or PM me. Cheers http://www.livinghistory.co...

ah the ones with the bag pipes... that'll be the Sassenachs ( http://www.sassenachs.nl ). That's a drum and warpipe band, indeed no historical things. Why do scottish and not dutch... I'm more interested in the whole celtic, scotland, ireland, breton kinda stuff.. dutch stuff is the things you learn...

They are not totally historical correct in activities... you've got that right.

We try to be, we do Jacobites and try to be as correct as possible... but we are still a fresh group... we just had our first season and are tuning our stuff to the period.

Hi Wim-Jaap, I am planning a family holiday to the Netherlands next summer. Any must-see historical sites or reconstructions that you could recommend? Or any lists of reenactment events in your country? Only been once before - a few days in Amsterdam and a day trip to Naarden. Cheers JW For re-enac...

what I find annoying is for example a frenchy who starts in french to a dutchy. When the dutchy doesn't understand they talk louder... but still in french. and everytime they go louder and louder... If it happens to me and I do understand what he/she is on about, I answer in Dutch. and if they say t...

Still admiring the try. Most "foreigners" which come here on holidays orso, don't even try to speak dutch. Most of the time a frenchman starts in french, then in broken english but never in dutch.... When a dutchman goes to france, he starts in broken (or splendid) french. if they don't succeed they...

Hello Mark P., I tried PM-ing you, but the message stays in my outbox for fome reasen and doesn't appear in my sentbox. So I try it like this. Thanks for the pictures! I've got a question, do you have the books yourself? I've tried the libraries here but none of them could supply me with the books. ...

Tents Jacobite Camp

Does anyone know of some source (preferrably a book) in which I can find a description of what kind of tents were used in a Jacobite camp at the 45?
(Or just prior to the 45)
