Probably not, otherwise we'd consider it.

Re: Anyone going to the York st nicks fair?

It's quite a broad question, really. York's St Nick's Fair covers much of the city.

We'll be at Barley Hall (our third year) and King's Manor (giving the new show a try).

On Firefox, the shoe image doesn't have a clickable link, and the link to footwear is a TEENY link just at the bottom edge of the screen, I would have missed if I wasn't looking closely.

Have you checked it for Firefox or just MS Explorer?

Otherwise, it looks nice and crisp.

Re: Historia Originata 2 new trade show October

Excellent!

I've activated the website, it's at http://historiaoriginata.wordpress.com/

I've put all the websites I can find for traders at the upcoming show in the Links list. If you have a website that I've overlooked, please let me know and I'll do it asap.

If you are a confirmed trader for this show, and you'd like a photo put on the site with your information, please send me a PM here. The site should be up and running by Monday.

I'm doing a website for them, but both George and Annie are away from their computers for few more days. As soon as I have some info, I'll post it.

(I'm not part of the organiser's team, just helping out with the website)

Same here, hope to be there with our beads. Nice for us because it's so close to home. We went to the show this year as MOPs, and enjoyed it immensely. The army marching through Chester was excellent.

Re: How to get out chewing gum?

The point of freezing is to stabilise the gum so the main part can be chipped off. All of the oily suggestions work the same, chocolate, mayonnaise etc. They coat the fibres, allowing the gum to be slid off the affected area. Before using something like WD40, test it in a corner, as it may stain wor...

There's really nothing else to be said.

People will have to judge in person, I only hope they give us the same sort of leeway Optio seems to have.

It would be silly for me, Chris, but for the slams against our business and the quality of what we do. Oddly, Optio objected to exactly what he's done to us.

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

Marcus, I never questioned the way Optio was organising his group. If you read MY posts, I asked if he were going to be an active group or a static one, and I asked if he was going to answer questions posed to him by others. I never told him how to run his group, you're more than welcome to quote wh...

I'm crushed. I'm heartbroken.

I'll be sure to let everyone else who uses modern tools to produce their wares that they should never consider themselves anything but time-wasters.

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

It is still different to actually being a re-enactor though. Ok, I'll bite. As a trader who is in the authentic section of EH shows and the like, I have to 1. Wear historic clothing 2. Have a historic tent 3. Be able to talk knowledgeably about what I do (in a variety of time periods, rather than t...

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

I was told that I was extraneous because I don't re-enact. This implies that anyone who does not re-enact is useless even if what they make is necessary for a re-enactor to do what they want. I made no comments about what Optio was trying to achieve, I simply commented (as did others who were not sl...

Re: 1 C Romans Interested?

Definitely food for thought. Any group, especially ones who aspire to be the benchmark for a time period, have to rely on someone to produce the items that will help them achieve it. Admittedly, our area is beads but it started because of a deep interest in history and the idea that others might lik...

1 C Romans Interested?

I do have one question. How many people have kit that is entirely made by re-enactors? If you're someone who is interested in history, produces useful items for re-enactors but don't do any yourself, does that mean you're useless and shouldn't even bother? Is it madatory to actually BE a re-enactor ...
