thanks frances, authenticity in the headresses are less of a priority for me than making sure they look authentic, my french hood has a ye olde tudor cardboarde fraymeworke, so i'm not fussed as long as the end result looks great!! will check out your site :)

making a french hood.... getting the satin to be flat on the front, but then to gather all the material on the back was a right pain!! and fitting the black tube on the back aswell :? i made 3 of them.. i dont know how!

a few weeks ago i visited hampton court (unfortunately not as an occupant!!) and it was amazing.... i felt about 6 foot off the ground i was so high, i've never felt so elated and overwhelmed in my life. i wanted to laugh and cry and run in circles for a long time.

btw, yes frances is a french name.... he was actually king of france right after louis of france who was infact the husband of mary tudor. until he died shortly after and mary was stolen back to britain and married by charles brandon :D prehaps she was previously in france serving as lady inwaiting ...

i guess its because our standards are so different... back then, when, for example, the looked back as georgians over the tudor era they must have though to themselves 'would you have been a tudor? no way' and equally in 100 years time they will think 'errgh... just imagine how horrible it must have...
