a few weeks ago i visited hampton court (unfortunately not as an occupant!!) and it was amazing.... i felt about 6 foot off the ground i was so high, i've never felt so elated and overwhelmed in my life. i wanted to laugh and cry and run in circles for a long time.

btw, yes frances is a french name.... he was actually king of france right after louis of france who was infact the husband of mary tudor. until he died shortly after and mary was stolen back to britain and married by charles brandon :D prehaps she was previously in france serving as lady inwaiting ...

i am inclined to agree with all you said. i would also like to feel that i work, physically work and sweat, for my living rather than sitting at a computer or pen pushing. i want to see what i could actually do for myself!

i guess its because our standards are so different... back then, when, for example, the looked back as georgians over the tudor era they must have though to themselves 'would you have been a tudor? no way' and equally in 100 years time they will think 'errgh... just imagine how horrible it must have...
