My new breastplate :D :D :D

If you visited the Matt Black Armour stand at TORM you may have seen my new breastplate. Well today I finally got some photos of me wearing it and thought I'd post them. It was made by Matthew Bayley as a present to wear whilst banner bearing. I broke my elbow last year and had the metal out almost ...

I am slowly learning to make armour, although most of my own will be made by Matt as I want nice armour. To me nice doesn't mean having lots of fluting or over the top decoration, it's more about having a good authentic shape, the metal having been work hardened, it fitting correctly and it being ea...

So pretty, I've been looking at the HE stuff and wishing I had some spare money. Admittedly most of my drawling has been at the cuirass Jeff and Luke have been working on.

Mourning in the fifteenth century

I'm thinking of representing someone quite high up the social scale in mourning and am not really sure how to start researching the various customs that would be followed in England. For example are there restrictions on the activities one can take part in?

Parish Records

Hi, Sorry, it seems that every time I post I'm asking for help! Anyway, I'm looking at some parish records and under one set of entries for 1570 of those Baptysed it reads, 'Era. et concord. cum registro' Anyone got any idea what this means? I can kind of guess using the tiny amount of Italian I kno...

Online Written Resources

Well, I've spent all day trying to find online written resources on Restoration London and so far have had no luck. This work was set by my University Lecturer, so it must be out there somewhere! I don't suppose some kind soul could point me in the right direction? I'm not asking for you to do the r...

Depends where it is tight, I thought it may be too tight around the actual arm, not that the arm hole is too tight. This was a problem I had with a kirtle as I'd fitted the arms with nothing underneath, once I added a shift it was too tight to bend my arm!

PS - That helped perfectly!
