Very nice. Yaron Thau joked about doing something similar due to his many, many Welsh section A's.
Look forward to seeing the finished result.

Re: 2015 Law Commission 'antique' gun proposals
Realistically, how many deaths do you think would occur every year if reproduction flintlock or matchlock long guns didn't require a certificate? I think it would be 0. I don't believe there are any problems in France, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Austria, Czech etc with flintlock related deaths.....

Re: Napoleonic French Cavalry Tents
Hi Vic, Are there any primary sources for that info? Everything I have is bell tents (and only a couple of contemporary pictures showing the un walled bell tents). Contemporary memoirs I have read only mention bell tents, but mostly in passing as most of the time it's about sleeping next to a tacked...

Re: Napoleonic French Cavalry Tents
On the odd occasion they got to use them, British cavalry used bell tents with supports on the central pole to hang tack off.
In the period they could sleep 8, as re-enactors we struggle with 4.
Key difference to the bell tents we use is the period ones did not have “walled” sides.

No one has done the Dragoon Guards. There was a group doing the Lifeguards back in the 90's, but they have all faded away now I think.

Can't be me, I wasn't present at Waterloo 2010, I joined En Vedette in November 2010. My first event was the NAN winterbivouak in Februari 2011. Ahh, must be Dirk then - I think this was his last event with them, but Derk and Sylvia split off as he wasn't giving any orders during the battle which i...

Just found this as well. http://www.16ld.org/images/Waterloo_2010/Waterloo_2010_03.jpg The Light Dragoons supported by the 18th Hussars at Waterloo 2010. Our Dutch member had dropped out at this point as had many of the allied cavalry as the horses were a little suspect to say the least. But in the ...

Your local group is http://www.envedette.org If you are interested in Dutch Hussars, they are your best way forward. Also look up the 16th Lancers as I think they are the most active WWI cavalry unit. http://www.16thlancers1914.com They also have their own bridle maker which is handy, and they can point you away from the sutlers you want to avoid. Hi Jeremy,
1781 will give you the 1768 regulations if I remember right (may be different for militia) so O/R and junior NCO's did not cary a sword.
Unless you are doing somthing else/different rank.

It actually looks pretty good. with domestic planned events big enough for cavalry in June, two in August and one in September.
