Re: How did a Lancastrian end up in a Scottish Regiment?

I know this is WW2 not Great War, but my Dad was wounded in Burma as a Wiltshire Regiment soldier, and after release from hospital was transferred to the Worcestershire Regiment as they were billeted in Rangoon where the Hospital was and the Wilts had been withdrawn.

Generally I get hardwood dowel from B&Q or the like and cut it to length, I have snapped a few playing silly buggers.

Roman Re-enactment - Cirencester

A plea for a short term loan please. Where I work have decided to have a photo on Thursday and the theme is 'Roman' as our logo is a Legionnaire. Is there anybody with an outfit in the Swindon/Cirencester area that may be able to lend me a few basics please? I am willing to offer ale (or whatever yo...

Persevere with them Elaine, Gini is 'flat out' at the moment as it is the pre-season rush. She usually replies within a few days, but rarely answers the phone.

Leather Cockers or Pattern For Them

Gleetings all,

I am after a set of leather cockers to wear with closed latchets, or a pattern for them, I can only visualise modern styrup style gaiters which I am sure are not correct for 17thC any tips or hints gratefully received too.

Cheers

Being rather wet behind the ears where the 17thC is concerned, just the sort of pointers I am looking for. Though out of curiosity I must ask why no to leather?

Floppy Felt Hat - What Band?

Morning All, I have a floppy felt that I want to embellish as it is a little plain (resisting the urge to wear neon feathers). I want to make a band round the crown, similar to the ribbon on a more modern trilby, but really want to know before I upset the authy police, what would be fitting?: Leathe...

SOF Military do sell original and repro kit:

Linky

Some of it can be a little steep.

If you live anywhere near Newbury, there is a clothing barn just off the A4 that occasionally gets battledress and boots that turn up in the clothing recycling and they sell and hire.

Re: Hose/Gaiters

All I do know, is that I am not keen on the Nora Batty look. My ignorance about the Civil War is what prompted me to join the SK, after going to a Battle Weekend and being asked who are they? and I did not know, I felt obliged to learn and do. But would like to get it right whilst I am kitting out, ...

Re: Hose/Gaiters

I am quite taken by the idea of a set of cockers. But coarse linen hose also catch my fancy, http://www.londonfoodfilmfiesta.co.uk/I ... _small.jpg the hose in this picture look very similar in style to spats.

Hose/Gaiters

Good evening all, I am still very new at this SK business and am still putting together a set of kit. At a recent muster, I saw a combination of footwear and have come to the conclusion after much googling (preparing to be shot down in flames here) that closed latchets are the correct pattern of foo...
