Hey Matt I didn't use a shoe - I just cut a hard sole to shape, plus 1/4 inch all round, then pierced the sole with a leather punch all the way round; 33 holes on mine!! (BIG FEET!!!!!) I then used a split-ring washer through each hole, linking directly to the maille of the chausses. This means that...

Any news about these so-called Saracen horse archers yet? Any reply from this unnamed lecturer? I'll email him myself if someone will provide the name, and the date and context of the lecture in question. Or is it a load of made-up b*****ks? I hope it's all true - my Saracen kit is nearly ready!!!!!...

The Celts could be quite sophisticated in battle - at Telamon they formed up facing TWO directions, having been surprised by the appearance of a second Roman army. They also suffered a decline, just as all cultures/empires did. At mount Magaba in 189 A.D., the Galatian Celts formed up in a solid mas...

Awesome piccies! - looks like a great show.

To be pedantic, the Me 109 is not a real one - it's actually a Buchon (Bf 109G airframe, powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin) but you can't get reconditioned DB601 engines these days........ :D

Thanks for posting these great shots.

I'd very much like to get back in touch with John Chaplin, who used to be the corporal in the French 45th de ligne (is that spelt right - it's not my period!)

If anyone can help, please PM me.
