Re: Retail therapy

Nope, it's definitely you. We even came to your house near Bristol to collect the items...and I know you aren't a trader. Anyway, you obviously don't remember us, but sorry to have missed you anyway.

Yggdrasil, whereabouts were you? Looked for you specifically, but couldn't see you (bought your blue Roman glass and a few other bits a couple of years ago).

School visit request

Hi folks. A friend in rural Northumberland is looking for someone who's willing to go and do a costumed talk for the local Primary school some time in March. Don't know any other details, but if anyone's interested or knows someone who'd be able to help out, please contact me via pm. Thanks.

Amazing set of pictures, those first ones. Particularly loved the dinner guests and the shooting party photos, and some of the individual portrait shots were stunning!

There's Rosa Mundi in Redcar, for really well researched Medieval. Think they're still going...
...and there's also the Dunholm branch of the Vikings though they're probably too early for you.

That's fab, Robin. What an amazing project to be involved in! Ages ago at the cinema, when they still used to show an additional (often eduacational) film before the main feature, I remember them showing one about the discovery and preservation of the ships at Roskildefjord... http://www.vikingeski...

Sillicus does some excellent and well researched authenti-painting at shows these days, and did all the banners for Britannia's Guildhall show this Summer, which were extremely striking and provoked a great deal of interest. You wouldn't guess he used to illustrate for certain...ahem... *specialist...

Thanks folks. Don't think it's real astrakhan though - apparently it's too heavy for a start :)

I think good old fresh air will probably be as good as anything. Maybe bicarb? Not actually applied to the coat itself but maybe in the same bag...? It's a thought anyway.

Anyone got advice on how to air...

...a really quite musty-smelling 1940's black astrakhan coat with (possibly) an arctic fox collar. Otherwise been really well looked after, got hardly any wear or damage for its age, and it's silk-lined and monogrammed, so I'm really intrigued as to its history as well. Know it's not strictly a 'co...
