Re: Article for NMTF magazine

I'm sorry to say that I've had hardly any replies and it seems no-one in interested in being part of this article. I wanted it to be about the historic market traders as a group, not just about my business. So, no write-up.

Re: Quick question regarding pitch fee's, refunds etc

Traders don't often complain if an event was badly organised, they usually just walk away and not do that particular event again. However, I think one of the problems here is one of trust. As a trader, I now realise that I can expect very little for my pitch fee, a piece of grass or a space on the g...

Article for NMTF magazine

Hi, I'm thinking of putting together an article about historic markets. I read the NMTF mag and its full of standard static markets and thought it would be useful to show a different type of market. I know it's getting near to the end of the season, but it might get people interested in looking for ...

Hi,
I talked to Tony and he doesn't need much cord, so he's going to have a go making it himself. Sorry.

Lucet cord.

Just wondering what price Lucet cord sells at?
I need some and I'm wondering if it would be better to make it or buy it. The cost offset against how long it would take me and what else I could make in that time. The crafters dilemma.

Re: Tewkesbury 2013

Back from Tewkesbury and just wanted to thank everyone involved. The planning and layout was excellent and helpful, as were all the volunteers. Plenty of signs to lead the public to the event and Robert Hardy was a complete bonus. A well organised event and we are looking forward to next year. Cheer...

Re: Tewkesbury 2013

Hi Hamster,
We (House of Freyja) got our pitch letter, thank you.
However, there was no stamp on the envelope and the post office charged us £1.50 for the privilege of collecting it.

Roll up. roll up. House of Freyja, Historical Emporium. Makers of pretty things and outrageous liars. Come to our tent and hear our tales of adventure in the Lost Lands. Gaze in wonder at the Griffin feather, be horrified at the fate of the fairies and be astounded at Dr. Perkins bravery, facing the...

Hi,
I know this is short notice, but the event I was booked into has been cancelled. So are there any events over Easter that I could trade at? Medieval, Viking, multi-period are all fine.

Cloak question.

I wonder if anyone can help. I think I've seen a cloak that is short at the front (waist length) and longer at the back ( knee length) with a neck hole. It has a closed front, not split. Does anyone have evidence of this type of cloak or have dreamed it?

Re: What do MOPS buy?

To be honest, if we knew what the public wanted, we would all be rich. Also, the last few years have been hard. People don't have money to spare and most traders are struggling, some are going under. I don't want to put you off, but there's no point telling you that everything is great. It's a good ...

The cloaks didn't have hoods attached, it was a separate item, but it's not hard to make. Or the hoods are quite cheap to buy.

Hi Lillicat23,
What status are you portraying? If it's low status, the cloaks are quite simple. Send me a PM and I'll help with patterns and ideas.

Lining it with wool would be alright, but you have to be careful with fur. What period and status are you? This decides which fur you can use.
