New 18th-century tune book

Hi Bit of a blatant plug but I've recently published a book of 18th-century English country dance tunes which I've researched from the British Library. A sizeable chunk of them have not to my knowledge previously been published. If you're interested in purchasing a copy or would like more informatio...

Tabor drum for sale. SOLD

SOLD Small tabor drum with string tension (too small to call it rope) 26cm diameter. Really good, bright sound. Comes with a hand stitched soft leather case with a strap, (which is a bit too big for it, as it was made for our previous drum, but it does keep it from being knocked around). £35 plus £5...

Re: Dordrecht recorder

Jane Moulder has produced an excellent series of tune books covering the medieval, Tudor and Civil War periods which are also packed with info about the respective periods. I suspect they're the same ones that Busy Mole sell, but you can also buy them direct from Jane here - http://www.piva.org.uk/B...

Blue Velvet

Hi

Bernie the Bolt had some lightweight midnight blue velvet this summer and he's now sold out of it. I'm inquiring if anyone has bought a job lot of it and has a couple of metres spare that they would be willing to sell?

Please PM me or email sophiejmatthews@aol.com

Many thanks

Sophie

Alembic and pipkin?

Hi all I'm not sure if this is in the right bit of the forum (if not could a kindly mod move to somewhere more relevant?) My partner is looking at developing a herb/apothecary workshop for schools and needs to buy a variety of things for it. Most of the stuff is fairly easy to source (pestles, morta...

Re: 18th century tunes - new website

Thanks for that Tamsin! I haven't looked at the 4th edition yet so I'll have a ferret through over the next few days or so. From what I can tell, Walsh is similar to Playford in that although certain tunes are common to all editions, there are some tunes that only appear in certain editions. At a gl...

18th century tunes - new website

Hi all Don't know if this is an area that interests anyone here, but when Sophie and I aren't making people's ear bleed with bagpipes, shawms and rauschpfeifen I research lost country dance tunes from the 18th century. I've recently set up an online tune collection that's free to access. It can be f...
