Re: WWI anti aircraft battery
Very nice, the Thornycrofts were built close to where I work. Interesting camouflage scheme, if you see them in any it's usually a three tone camouflage scheme (although this could still be three tone, but again in a different scheme to what i've seen previously). Does rather look like the camouflag...

A 'real' copy is due out in the future....
I've seen the book, absolutely fantastic, well worth the money even though I had to pinch someone else's iPad to view it!

Tankfest 2013
Photos of the Great War Society's display and other exhibits at Tankfest 2013 at the Tank Museum, Bovington. As a tip of the hat to the Great-uncle of a chap who joined us on our display, we portrayed the crew of D50 'Dainty Dinmont', the story being that our Mk IV, B46 'Big Brute' had been newly tr...

Re: Great War SMLE advice
If you mean 'chargers', the usual ones (which I presume are the ones you're referring to? They're the ones i've most frequently seen), with holes at the bottom and sides, are still fine for WW1 as they were introduced in October 1917; http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1376...

Re: New to WW1 Re-enactment
Thanks chaps for the info, i'll have a look out for a OR's tunic and some more bits of 1908 webbing. Can anyone recommend a group which is activitily planning events for 2014-18 in France and Belgium. Any further ideas on chances to work in France and Belgium as a historical interpreter? :) Thomas ...

Re: New to WW1 Re-enactment
I don't want to be an officer, no attraction for me but to each their own. But I do love my infantry officers sword. What I really want to be is a Tankie which would keep my Lincolnshire link but I have never seen an appropriate vehicle come up for sale. :D Craig Great War Society do Tankie too, oc...

Re: New to WW1 Re-enactment
I was originally in a multi-unit group which was great, but I can highly reccommend joining a single unit group even if it isn't your 'pet' regiment, as I have done - there are a lot of advantages to this, and although what's on your cap and shoulders is different, you still get to be with like mind...

Re: New to WW1 Re-enactment
Bit problematic as czartank mentions - closest geographically would be the Warwicks, although as the name suggests you'd have to re-badge as Royal Warwickshire, and downgrade to private. A couple of groups may let you come straight in as an Officer, but again they're regiment specific

I used to have a Schipper set.... didn't like it, some bits fell apart, within a year was on ebay. Now have a mix of original and Kiddle, worth the wait as it matches really well

We've been running for almost 2 years now and our 2012 season has been a pretty good one. We find ourselves stepping up a gear for 2013 and I'm keen to introduce the machine gun section for those less keen on actually riding, so we're always looking for potential Essex Yeomen. our web presence is h...

Someone I know is struggling to get in touch with Della Rebours - was getting e-mails regarding ordering a uniform but now nothing, has anyone heard from her in the past two months or so?
Thanks, Rob

Re: Honest Opinion Wanted (I know that I will get it here)
World Wide Arms doing them online for a decent price. Just got myself a 1917 dated SMLE from elsewhere for 395, so not too badly priced i'd say - as has been said, price will only go up, consider it an investment, like all decent kit!

As mentioned, Lennons the best by far - may be expensive but they're worth it, wearing mine for five years and absolutely wonderful, when my feet are on the line I wouldn't want budget boots

Does anyone have any contacts for those great guys that do the Antarctic Explorers, using, if I remember rightly, props from the 2002 Shackleton series? Can't find their website anymore, believe they were listed on their site as down for Kelmarsh but didn't see them there
