Re: Help sought sourcing WW1 Highland Regiment dress uniform

It is always good to work with other groups.
I doubt that I will be there myself, trying to move house season kinda kills the odd event or two. I will, however, be at the Yorkshire Wartime Experience in our humble little trench. Being shot at and gassed by Germans :)

Re: Help sought sourcing WW1 Highland Regiment dress uniform

If you ever fancy coming out to play with us check out the website for our events.
After hours there are Camerons, Black Watch, Royal Marines etc so there would be plenty of opportunity for you to wear the kit and swap stories :)

Re: Great War SMLE advice

I had to get my ones from the states. They are a later version but a box of 100 cost £120 including delivery, so not to be passed by.
If you find a source for the early ones then spread the word.

Despite the weather last year it was a good event. It should be an even better event this year with more groups and vehicles attending.

Yep, we are a growing group. Within the group, while being first and foremost the gordons, we have some guys who do ASC, RAMC, Camaronians etc. All events are done as Gordon Highlanders but have done small shows showing a wide range of regiments. We have our first training event of the year in mid A...

Re: New to WW1 Re-enactment

Another option would be to keep your officers kit for 'mess' evenings and get involved in an established group as a private. A few of our lads get the officers kit out in the evenings. If we didn't have some sort of structure then we would be surrounded by officers and no humble privates. Just look ...

Re: Great War SMLE advice

I will hopefully be getting reloading equipment later this year and I was chatting to a mate about making blanks. Now if they are as cheap as you say then it is worth getting a die. Any advice on the weight of the charge and the powder type would help.

Re: Great War SMLE advice

thats the thing about enfields - they are what they have stamped on the side...... unless they are kyber pass copies of course. I would agree with that, but still put my money on it being an interwar rifle. Check the serial number if, on the main body, it starts with a 5 then it is a BSA Bahrain co...
