Which ever route you go down, It's not gonna be cheap! Hardwood is around £7 a board foot, only available up to 9'' wide, so would need jointing. How good are you at woodwork? That's one of the reasons chests are so expensive! What size are you looking for?

Just seen this thread. Apologies for the late reply. Thomson's water seal for brickwork is basically the same stuff as Fabsil but cheaper! Agree totally about full PPE though. (although a hi-vis jacket won't help much!)

Ferrers Household have a pair of weeding sticks. Pete the carpenter just kept his eyes open when walking, He also has build various different types of spade.

Where do you think that all the fuel from miss-fueled cars goes? Tanks are mostly multi-fuel and will run on anything. re-enactor from the ww2 boys used to work for Nick thats where the info came from.

Buy British I say, The Ferrers household got their Casks, (a barrel is a size) from Les Skinner bootle He has a Website that i can't find at the moment. but he is very good an interesting bloke to talk to and understands what we need. On a note, Casks take some looking after
