It's good to hear that the Wessex Regia group and a Vike group operate from Bristol - that should be fairly easy to get to. Now I just need a house...

Dark Age groups near Bath?

Hi all,

I'll shortly be moving to Bath - can anyone recommend any local Saxon/Viking groups with regular weapons practices? As far as I can see there isn't a Regia or Vike group in the immediate area and Google hasn't turned anything else up.

How about contacting the archaeology dept. at your uni/another nearby uni and asking if they need volunteers at digs, or for cataloguing finds etc? I know that's probably not exactly what you're looking for, but it should put you in touch with active researchers and help you make a few contacts. Goo...
