Knights for St George's Day, Rugby

First of all, I apologize for this being so late in the day, but I have had an email from a lovely lady I met at TORM, who is looking for two local people to Rugby, who might be kind enough to do a gig for the Scouts parade, no money available, so you know this from the start. She is hoping someone ...

Re: Any Historical Events in January in Scotland?

Scotland is very cold in January, and isn't our busiest country reanactment wise. You would have a lot more luck in the Summer, and as a general trend, the further South you go towards London, the more events are available then.

Re: Medieval wedding traders?

I haven't heard of anyone doing a total one stop shop set up for this kind of event, though Mark Griffin, of Grffin Historical would be able to pull it all together for you, at a fair price. Otherwise you'd be looking at individual traders/suppliers for each aspect. Four and twenty blackbirds are br...

Probably safest to contact the organizers direct then, as insurance always needs to be sorted for these do's.

I didn't know him well, and it's good to see all the ways he helped people, how skilled and generous he was.
I did know him to be a patient and humorous dining companion, a gentleman.
Very sad to see him pass.

No, but if you do, people who do medieval reenacting may walk into it, as it will be impossible for them to see it.

Re: Shame about the shoes

Maybe it's a little naive of me, but if the people who are not actually part of a display, are enthusiastic enough to have a crack at making costume for a city event like this, may they not, potentially become reenactors in the future, if they are made to feel welcome, rather than criticized for the...

Tim has one, it's fine, once you have the poles assembled in the tent on the ground, give someone a shout to help you get it upright, then peg out the bell ends outer pegs, then the rest of the bell end pegs, and the rest. Ours stays up in utterly lousy weather, it does leak a little now it is ninet...

If anyone is looking for a brilliant place to end the Summer season next year, they would do well to consider this one. We had a lovely time, great site, enthusiastic staff at the castle, good trade, and a dry tent to cap it off. Thanks Jason, if it's on, we'll be back.

I agree, don't buy the top or trousers- have words with VME members, they can put you on to traders who can make you something much more suitable for their needs. Have you been to an event yet?

Welcome to the forum loken31st. Lots of groups have different kit requirements, so it's a difficult one to answer in a generic kind of a way. Have you attended any events where your new group are appearing yet? If they are being vague it may be that they want you to be sure what you are getting into...
