Re: The Incident at the Rose and Crown

Amazing! I'm not familiarized with English history of this period, but I can only say that Richard, Duke of Gloucester seems to came directly from a medieval paint! Great work!

Re: The Great War - Portugal

Lord Byron thank you for your explanations! I'm on this right moment trying to figure out some colors on portuguese insignias, your information just gave me the light! :D Jorge - I don't know of any wars records on the internet, I supose you need to visit the Portuguese Army archives (Lisb...

Re: The Great War - Portugal

Problem is, most film used in cameras back then was orthochromatic, as opposed to panchromatic film which replaced it. That's very interesting! The portuguese had some diferences on the color of uniforms (from light grey to blue-grey) and is always very difficult for us to determinate wich color so...

Re: The Great War - Portugal

Hi Lord Byron! Thank you for your sugestion! As far as I know there's no problem with the camera - when I removed the film from the camera, it was not rolled tight and some light damaged the photos as you can see! Next time I will remember to roll it properly !

Cheers!

Re: The Great War - Portugal

Thank you all for your comments! Mick, I went to that memorial some months ago. Here in Portugal we don't have the tradition to leave flowers on those monuments like you do in England, or even to remember the Armistice day, altough there are some exceptions on some towns. Our project inten...

The Great War - Portugal

Hi all! We are starting a project to remember the portuguese soldier and nurses who participate on The Great War. Here's some photos we've taken last weekend with a Ansco Vest Pocket from 1912! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2450/4037326222_e0b654f96b.jpg Soldier from CEP - Corpo Expedicionário Port...

It only rained on Saturday (typical middle August rain here!), the rest of the days (from Thursday to Sunday) we had blue sky! :) Now I see that most of the photos are from the civilian part! The combats we're at night and I (of course) haven't take any photo. See here, the video on the evening news...

XIV cent. Portuguese Event

Hi all! After the Batalha Event last June (topic on the "Event Announcements" section), the Ordem da Cavalaria do Sagrado Portugal joined again on the village of Aljubarrota last weekend and set up a military camp (and civilian also) on the village's annual medieval festival, to commemorate the 623r...

Que distancia
Indeed! :D I travel a lot with my group (well, not as much as I would like... ), and when we go to animations, I always try to get some time to visit the museums, etc.

Brother Ranulf, thank you for the link!

Olá Jorge (que coincidência)!!
The original is at a museum in Viseu (north of Portugal). I'm from Olhão, Algarve (south).

Brother Ranulf, that's interesting! Can you upload an image of the casket that you refer?

Cheers

Wood coffer

Hello from Portugal! I would like to share with you this replica of a coffer (late XII/early XIII cent.), portuguese. The original is at a museum. The wood work is mine, the painting was made by a friend. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a352/Roderico/caixinha_mtg.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/alb...
