As for LEFTENANT Whats little escapade, I did warn him not to get over excited and waste his seamen in such a fruitless endevor! Sadly he was taken from behind by a swarthy turk moments later, and only my swift intervention saved him, as I forced the fellow to withdraw by waving my weapon at him!

A somewhat late reply - my group quite often portrays Mass at events, always following discussion with the organiser/client - and always done with respect and solemnity. We've never had any complaints or, to my knowledge, caused any offence. We've always been honest and explained both to the organis...

Guthrie - you're right, and that may have been what threw me so completely. I found the image on a very odd website, with no source quoted. Paul Murphy's link does take you to a much much better version!

Can anyone identify this image?

Having nearly finished my thesis, I've found an image which could be crucial to my main argument, but I can't find its original source and it's driving me mad! Can anyone help? Has anyone come across this image before, and, if so, can you tell me where it originally comes from? I'd be eternally grat...

Hi Becky Meg and I looked into this a year or so ago, with the rest of the Paladins girls, we spent HOURS looking at books and manuscript images and our reluctant conclusion was to pretty much agree with everything here - there are no sources that conclusively show European women in 'normal life' we...

PS I think Rupert and I will be posh-nobbing at the Tower joust too, courtesy of a very kind invitation from the Griffster. See you there! :D

(Meg posting - not Rupert - thought I'd better clarify that otherwise this post will worry people!) I spent a summer travelling with Destrier as they did the EH 'Month of Madness' joust - great fun, it was the long hot summer of 2002 (my second year at uni) and we didn't see home for about 6 weeks. ...

Oops Sorry Frances, my fault entirely, I didn't explain myself at all well! I should have said that I'm going to be a girl, in (probably) noble civilian kit (Milady-style). Such a shame, as your brocade waistcoat sounds beautiful! Unfortunately my costuming knowledge stops rather abruptly at about 1...

Musketeer-ing (sort of!)

Hi folks It's actually Meg here posting from Rupert's account (I've forgotten my password and it was re-set, but I can't seem to get the new password to work) - anyway, we're married now, so everything he owns is mine, including his identity  Anyway... I'm looking into the possibility of do...
