Does anybody know anything about The Anglo Saxons group? I want to do migration age and they look like the closest group to me but I've never heard of them.

I'm with the monkey on this, I can't find any period illustrations showing an undertunic longer than the overtunic. If any illustrations showing longer underskirts (or any other evidence) do exist, I would love to see them.

Tooth enamel evidence is totally irrelevant. Tooth enamel isotopes only show where a person spent their childhood rather than their ethnic/genetic origin, so a modern day British Asian for example, born in Britain but of Indian immigrant parents will have exactly the same tooth enamel isotopes as so...

Just to satisfy the curiosity of a Dark Age er do you do any competitive fighting in WOTR or is it all re-enactments of historical battles that have to end with the right side winning?

I think to write off all Dark Age/Early Medieval battles as boring is very harsh! A badly done battle can certainly be boring but that goes for just about any period! As Matt points out larger groups are able to show tactics like boar snouts etc and some unit manoeuvring. I have also heard members o...

Whats wrong in Dark Age re-enactment

Same question as about WOTR re-enactment, but different period and no starters :P . What could Dark Age re-enactors do better?

AFAIK evidence for crossbows - 1 nut in Scotland, possibly from a crossbow, dating contentious possibly 7th/8th century and one Pictish carving.

What does the book say?
