Hi Glaelia, having done some fairly extensive research into the period for use in the early14thC group I'm a member of, I always understood this to mean 'of marriageable age' and assumed it was a cultural/social/general dignity thing. Considering that women from this period would have been married ...

Congratulations - you both look lovely :D Hope it all went the way you wanted it to - you certainly look happy enough in those pics! Cheers The day went really well. The horse was very well behaved for his photos too. After all the fuss with the guests, they all made a great turn out from one centu...

Wedding Pictures

I have a few pics if any of you are interested, after all the fuss before the wedding! Unfortunately there are only dodgy camera phone ones available at the moment.
It was never meant to be historically accurate - so please don't pick holes in them.

Medieval Childrens Clothing/Costume

I need a bit of help folks. I have a few kids coming to my wedding next month, and they are really looking forward to the 'dressing up'. However their parents are finding it hard to find outfits for them. Does anyone know of any places that do kids medieval stuff (fancy dress would be ok for them) t...

That would be great, let me know what events you will be going to :D That's a really good article Lena - thankyou. Are any of you coming to Lanark? Won't come to Lanark, but I will probably be at Bodelwyddan in Mid-August, and the Walsingham pilgrimage in September. /Lena I will be at Bodelwyddan, ...

I will 'fess up on this one. I am terribly ashamed of my lack of 'basic' knowledge on this  :( I am aiming anywhere between 1300- 1377 and probably within the lower social levels. I know I need to do tons and tons of research, but I would be grateful if I could be put on the right track so to ...

Coif / Headwrappings

I have been thinking about what I should be getting as my first kit (c14th). I can't get it all right now, but am in the planning stage. So far I have come up with the following. Linen shift, wool kirtle, sideless (?) surcote. I am thinking stockings (possibly woollen) I have been reading previous p...

So something like the full covering ones on the link Eric posted: http://ilaria.veltri.tripod.com/overviewbards.html Just though I'd better query it. If you asked me for barding, I'd be expecting to make it out of metal or leather and I didn't think you'd want that for your wedding :D Yes thats the...

Sorry to be vague. I am not really sure what everything is called. However it would be nothing more than cloth to show off heraldry/colours. I am not sure about a full head covering. But caparison for the reins, chest and perhaps the rump also. Along the style of drapes tied at the front of the sadd...

Medieval Horse Barding

Any jousters out there that can help me with this? I am really keen to get Barding for my horse, as he is a big part of my wedding day, I want him to look the part too. Rather than pictures with some vintage car etc, I want the horse in the album instead. I think my husband will look superb with him...
