Re: WTB Mead

I was told that Lindesfarn mead it not actually mead as the yeast has never seen honey in its life! It is cheap french wine flavoured with honey at the 'winery'. Re: taking credit cards by phone at shows?

There is a problem with taking credit card payments by phone. The transaction is not 'chip & pin' so if it is a stolen card the retailer looses the cash as a charge back will happen. The only way to do secure mobile is with a dedicated radio terminal that the customer can insert card & enter...

Re: Tax. Are you registered?

Corporation tax is only aplicable fot Ltd companies. If you are not a Ltd company then you will probably be seen as a partnership and all 'partners' can be taxed on income. In most casers it would be easy to show that any income is only used to partialy offset considerable expenditure. For example, ...

Re: REMINDER - NMTF Historic Traders Branch AGM

I have just spoken to NMTF HQ and been informed that the national rules do not alow any postal or proxy votes for branch AGM's (or for the national AGM). So anyone who justs wants a nice day out in the rain (sorry, I mean sunshine) may like to come for the day. Tewkesbury is centrally located. We us...

I know that most show organisers probably will not let you pay by credit card. But some of the bigger, more commercial ones might, and these are the ones who are probably asking for the bigger fees! If you can pay by credit card(NOT debit) you are protected as if the show is cancelled you have not b...

You can only charge VAT if you are VAT registered. To do otherwise is a criminal offence. Generally if your annual turnover is less than £64,000 you do not have to register but it may be an advantage. If your customers are not VAT registered then avoid registering until you have to. If they are regi...

Hi the York Viking festival is always busy and rooms hard to find but many of the web hotel search sites are quite good. If you want to stay within staggering distance of the pubs that the wariors use you need to find some where just off Bootham Rd. This is also quite near the minster. Expect to pay...
