I excavated a hobnail from a boot in a late 4th/ early 5th century context at Dorchester on Thames. And I've used mine to walk Hadrians Wall and on the Wansdyke this Saturday. They absolutely improve grip on grass, mud and gravel!

Well, I'm in SW London, do Early and Late Roman, and I know f another ( CELER on Roman Army Talk) who lives in Brixton, not far from you. There must be more though!!

Basingstoke-well, Legio II Augusta are probably the closest- and the armourer of the Ermine Street Guard also lives near- nice guy, great work that is also well researched (as you'd expect).
