Just had another thought - also have a look at white 'travel socks' most of which are cotton rich but you need to see the health warning! IMPORTANT Before using compression socks, seek medical advice if you have previously suffered from venous or arterial disease, or if you have suffered from diabet...

It all depends on how authentic you want to be - pure wool or cotton will be hard to find unless you can source an outfitter for Court Judges! However if you don't mind a cotton / polyester or similar mix try a Google search - 'LONG KNEE LENGTH WHITE COTTON SOCKS' and you will find various suppliers...

I realise it's been a while since you posted your query. I have just moved into the Tyne Valley and like you are looking for a local group with a preference towards the 100 Year War period. Have you got sorted with a group or are you still looking?
