Re: These forums - undead, or still twitching?
I also check in here most days but don't post very often. My group also had at least one booking last year as a direct consequence of this forum. Granted, it's not 'all in one place' like FB or other social media, being fed to you, but, for me, the forum still has great value.

Re: Roman linen or wool tunica
In my experience, finding a tunica to buy is very difficult and often overly expensive. Much cheaper to buy wool or linen and make it yourself. The design is extremely simple and a good resource is here: https://www.larp.com/legioxx/tunic.html

Re: Newbie ... Isle of Wight
Hi and welcome. Pretty sure there is a Portsmouth based group who badge as II Augusta but will have to get in touch with a mate of mine later to get any contact details. Not aware of any groups actually on the IoW itself but someone in that group may know. Feel free to PM me and I will try to put yo...

Re: Looking for Wars of The Roses Fed groups in Kent/Sussex area
I'm part of a Fed affiliated group but we are outside your area in Cambridgeshire. I'll be more than happy to ask round to see if anyone has some up to date contacts local to you though. Feel free to PM if you'd like to get in touch.

Re: Ancient oak medieval fayre
Hello Sharon, I am the chairman of a small Roman period living history group based near Peterborough - The Longthorpe Legion. We'd be interested in coming along this year. We have a Facebook page titled 'The Longthorpe Legion' and can also be contacted either by PMing me on here or mailing the group...

I'm not sure about the dished profile but you could ask John Watson at shieldsplus1@yahoo.co.uk to see if it's feasible for him.

Wanted: Pilum and Scutum
Hi everyone. Our little Roman group has been growing this year and we are looking to acquire two or three more shields and javelins. While I have seen some scuta out there on the interwebs, the cheaper ones all seem to be too curved compared to the ones we already have (and that a lot of the other g...

Re: What got you interested?
I've always had a love of history but my last job meant I tended to move around a lot, making committing to a group problematic. Last year I changed jobs and it so happened that I met a local Roman group at the Peterborough heritage festival in 2015. Decided to give it a go and haven't looked back. ...

Re: The Roman period reenactment in Cambridgeshire
We are a 1st century CE based (possibly a little earlier than your preference) Roman group head-quartered in Peterborough that's pretty small and friendly, I'm sure there would be scope to meet up at some point as we do several events in the local area interspersed with some larger ones at a more na...

Re: Big reenactment events in UK
You did not give a time limit during which you were looking for the events but off the top of my head, big events in the UK would likely include: The Tewkesbury Medieval Festival and Battle re-enactment - attracts thousands of participants from all over Europe and is likely to take place around 8/9 ...

Re: New Re-Enactor Looking For A Home - West Midlands
The Roman Military History Research Society are nationwide but based in Coventry I believe. They get together under the banner of the 14th Legion and their Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/135585726547680/ . I don't think that's too far from you and it may be worth posting on their p...
