Re: Newcomer looking for society in Nottingham

If you're a student in Nottingham, I think Crusade has a group tied to the uni there. Look for ForTheMarshal on here and he might be able to tell you more. Thanks for the plug, Andy - you need to email me BTW on what's happening with you as an individual, and if we're go or not for Durham :P ...

Re: Where to start? UK Reenactment

Trying to decide between War of the Roses-era or late Crusader (sort of Kingdom of Heaven-style) as when I think "knight" I still think more about the Crusader-style knight. * ears prick up If you still have any interest in dabbling with the Crusades, please do drop me a PM. We seem to be...

Re: leather gauntlets

Reading about that bit reminds me of something I have sitting, the beginnings of a 3 fingered gauntlet for chainmail to be attached. I was good and stitched the finger pads on inside out so that once i'm done they can be turned right way out and hide all the seams. However! Does anyone have any goo...

Re: The Hollow Crown

On a slightly different tack I notice there's been a few complaints about delays caused to the broadcast of Henry IV part 1 because of the tennis. I had it set up to record on my +box so I was okay but it did bring back some bad memories of watching some sports broadcast that I didn't give damn abo...

Re: The Hollow Crown

I rather enjoyed Richard II and Henry IV pt1.
Am looking forward to comparing Henry V to Kenneth Branagh's version.

Yes, Hal's coat was a GoT cast-off in my eyes too :P

Re: Half-scabbards for swords - any basis in history?

Always found an axe in the belt uncomfortable - then again, I'm weird and like my kit really tight (less of a problem as I adapt to the traditional re-enactor build over the years :P ). Made something like the below (angled though), and its kept my spare axe out of the way in small of my back withou...
