How do you wash six sheepskins?

Yes folks - I have bought six of them to make a bed covering, but they are filthy, and I have heard that you can't wash them in a machine, so what's the best way, and what sort of detergent should be used? I'd be grateful for any advice - no smart or facetious comments please.

Re: Black armour - right or wrong?

An interesting thought from Wikipedia - forgot to include the author - The name "Black Prince" Although Edward has in later years often been referred to as the "Black Prince", there is no record of this name being used during his lifetime, or for more than 150 years after his dea...

Black armour - right or wrong?

OK chaps - I need some informed opinion. Many years ago, when I first started reenacting, I was told that black armour was not worn generally because it denoted a "masterless man". Is this true? It doesn't really seem a good enough reason to not wear the stuff. Besides, a certain well info...

Re: Arrow Bags - Sorting fact from fiction?

By the way, bodkin arrowheads were specifically designed for use against maille. Against good quality plate armour at battle distances - 100 - 300 yards, they were quite useless. They might be of some use close up against poor quality armour, or thin plate.

Re: Arrow Bags - Sorting fact from fiction?

As an archer of many years standing I have read the posts in this debate with some interest. The one thing that stands out to my mind, is the debate over "12 arrows a minute". I'd like to examine that for a moment. While I agree that it is pefectly possible to shoot 12 arrows a minute, I c...

Re: Sourcing Cooking pans / Cauldrons

As a time-served metalsmith of 46 years standing, and an med reenactor, I have an interest in the production of steel which is made by re-melting pig iron. As part of the process, a certain amount of cast iron - in an undesirable form, but sometimes including a usable amount of "malleable"...
