Herigeas Hundas are in Portsmouth, We do Migration period.

There is an HEMA group baised out of portsmouth Uni, but I don't know their name.

is that close enaugh?

I used HDPE from a big 40 gal (i think) blue barrel to make SCA armour, it stopped everything coming, blunt force wise.

However its resistance vs sharp force is very different than steel. Weight wise its no contest, HDPE is far far lighter.

Is there any evidence that early medieval shields had any sort of rim, hide or otherwise (with the exception of the occasional metal one)? I know manuscript depictions sometimes seem to show a border around the rim but this could be painted rather than being a seperate item. If the back and front w...
