Tent Poles

We need a new tent pole for our 16' pavilion. Does anyone have any suggestions what to look for and where to look? The total height will be around 12', but this will be cut into two sections. We would also welcome suggestions as to where to get a metal sleeve for joining the two! Thanks all!

Re: Medieval kit stolen!

The trailer has been found in Tredegar! It has some damage, and some bits are missing, but we haven't had chance to work out exactly what yet. Thank you so much to everyone who offered words of support

Medieval kit stolen!

I know I have posted on other areas, but I need to reach as many people as possible! Our white box trailer has been stolen from Blackwood, South Wales. The number plate shows CE60 YTY. The trailer contained all our medieval kit, including a large pavilion tent with dagging painted mustard and rust. ...

ladies hair covering

I am aware that ladies were/are expected to cover their hair, but does that simply mean wear a suitable head dress, or does it mean completely hide any trace of hair?

14th centry candl making

When I researched candle making previously, I found lots of information (some of which I have still got) but I can't find any information or sources for suitable pots for melting and dipping wax for living history displays. Do any of you have any suggestions? Thanks

I was planning to make dipped candles, and am aware of some of the background. I know that wealthier folk would have used bees wax, although this was and probably still is expensive. I am also aware that poorer folk would have used tallow, but am equally aware of the drawbacks of this (as already me...

Help needed with 14th century candle making

Can anyone point me in the direction of information on candle making in the 14th century? I am interested to know what meterials and methods would have been used, but am also interested in what modern materials would be acceptable substitutes, as well as sources for materials. Thanks in anticipation...

surcotes

Hi to you all! Have been sifting through posts for a while but this is my first! I have joined a 14th century (1350-70) group and am thoroughly hooked! I am interested to know if any of you can point me in the direction of surcote diagrams or pictures on the net? I am looking specifically for surcot...
