Yeah, I've also heard that Louis XI used a lot of spies. And yes, the other advice here is good, especially the Juliet Barker's book, there was some interesting detail on the matter.

I would guess they mean scrambled . I mean that's what I'd do when they tell me ' fuddle your eggs a bit ' (or I might misunderstand and do something unrelated to cooking :D ) Yeah, otherwise I guess wine vinegar was expensive but then again I agree most of the cook books were probably aimed at the ...

Yeah, I wouldn't really say I found it very historically correct and researched, but you know the stereotypes that these movies usually fall into when it comes to pre-war and post-war (as well as during war) situations, especially if nobody from the film crew has ever been there.
