Make sure you have the grain running straight (and in the correct direction) all the way through your staves, I made one a couple of years back and if you're grain's wonkey you're bow will twist as you draw it. My grain is pretty much spot on, but he did have an example of a wonky grain stave to sho...

Also, for basic herbs, you could buy a pot from you're local tesco's. As long as you split them up as soon as you get home, I've always found I get plenty of healthy plants.

Also, if anyone wants about 6ft of Bay tree, let me know, because mine's getting somewhat out of control.
