Re: Multi Period Market

I echo the other responses about the cost of the pitch for a 1 day, untested show although Cheshire would be ideal for me. November is kind of busy however - there are the continental markets, and the christmas fairs in November too.

I'd be happy to pay £75 for a 2 day show however

Cheers

Re: A couple of recent projects.

Is it Kermes? Or Ararat Cochineal? IE, was the parasite beetle from the Oak tree or the type which you can only harvest in September when they come out of the ground to reproduce? The little critters look very similar and produce very similar colours with a Potash Alum mordant. I was promised some K...

Re: Dye

New Dylon: the rosewood from memory is a red brown and would be better than the bordeaux which is a blued shade. Don't bother with that Dylon Dye - its Rubbish, I got something which was terribly washed out and bleached out all the previous good dyeing I had done. I wanted to achieve an overdye for...

Re: How are you finding trade ?

Pontoise will be my first real trading event with the proper branding and almost a 'launch' after 5 years of slogging it out with academic work. I am finding my trading to be healthy with orders that are word of mouth and even now, at what is traditionally a quieter time of the year receiving new or...

Hi Graham, I'd just like to say that if there is a requirement for information on Roman military clothing, Graham should be your first point of contact... his knowledge is second to none.. he has certainly assisted me in the past and his published work has been born out of many years of painstaking ...

Anyway, to answer your q's.. I have been doing living history for around 10 years - started out in the ECWS and SK Cavalry and progressed to 4th and 5th century Roman. Currently a member of The Invictii Juniores Britanniciani - based in York - generally they support other groups rather than take on ...

I need an etruscan flute - can anyone help?

Thats pretty much what it says on the tin...

I need an etruscan flute making - and I have been looking for a while now - I need a transverse type to compliment my collection of instruments that I record here on the mountain in the recording studio

Re: How Rude!!!

The best for me was the girl who rolled up to my stall at Chester Roman fest and asked how much the Manx Loaghtan and Shetland sheepskins were - I told her and she said she can get them much cheaper at the pagan fairs she visits. I said 'Well good for you' - but these are NOT that price. She then pr...

Yes, but, and its a really big but, the really good re-enactors know exactly how much work goes into really good kit and are prepared to save up and invest heavily in it. If you can provide well researched good in the right quality at a realistic price for the work involved, you'll get customers. A...
