Stuart Era group sought.

Hi Folks I am looking to join a UK group (not area specific) that is focused on the Stuart era if possible. Living History only, I am a bit too old for fighting and always preferred the day to day life stuff from when I was in the White Company. Answers on a postcard please! I am based in Scotland b...

Re: LARP helmet. (NOT FOR ME)

A couple of reasons... One. There is a large LARP group in Aber based in the UNI and they buy this stuff and it's a good way to show what I acn do. Two. It's a nice change to do something creative and not have to worry about references and provenance. It's keeps me off the streets as well, well, str...

LARP helmet. (NOT FOR ME)

Just finished this today. It's taken about 25 hours at least. All hand made and sewn abd the brass was designed and cut out by me as well.

Hmmm, thought as much. Have look at Skirmish at one of the medieval do's and see if you can spot many improvments.

How long ago was that?

The reason I ask is there is a piccy in this months re-enactor of a medieval event that happened this year and the kit does not look like it's got any better.

Vike scabbard take two!

Needs staining but the strap slider is much thinner and I am happier with the leatherwork.

So Matt, any thoughts on why 2 layers?

Long cold winter nights and a surplus of 1.5 mm thick leather.

It was, I liked the searchlight a lot...especially when Ash went round to touch the glass to see if it was hot. I was most disappointed when his fingertips weren't instantly welded to it. I would have been surprised if they hadn't been burnt clean off in a puff of bacon smelling smoke. But I must a...

Woa, I have never seen a searchlight in that sort of context before or in such a clear photo. Only ever on old black and white films.

That is pretty darn stunning.

Conditioner on a beard  , that is probably the gayest thing I’ve heard this year. Doesn’t it make it smell and your food taste like soap? Doesn't it alter the filtration properties? Doesn't your chick think you've been kissing some one else? Does it attract bees? Possibly is, no, no, no and ...

Cool. Tempted to re-do the slider now, but it's a waste of leather and I got all that to make shoes with and claw some money back!

I need to place another leatehr order soon so I will get some of the appropriate stain.

Viking Scabbard

Not the first scabbard I have done, but the first viking period scabbard I have done. Based on ones from excavations in Dublin* Wood core, metal strap slider under the leather, some very simple cordwork. Fleece lined. Many thanks to Medicus Mat for advice and putting me in the right direction of ref...
